Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups plain yogurt (Fage Total Plain recommended)
- 8 strawberries, stems removed and finely diced
- 15 blueberries
- 1 tablespoon unsalted, unsweetened peanut butter
Instructions
- Prepare the Fruit: Wash the strawberries and blueberries thoroughly. Remove the stems from the strawberries and finely dice them to ensure the pieces are small enough for your dog to easily eat once frozen.
- Mix Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the plain yogurt with the finely diced strawberries, blueberries, and peanut butter. Stir well until all ingredients are evenly distributed throughout the yogurt.
- Portion the Mixture: Spoon the yogurt mixture into silicone molds or ice cube trays, dividing the mixture evenly to create 4 servings or more, depending on desired bite size.
- Freeze: Place the molds or trays in the freezer and allow them to freeze thoroughly for about 5 hours or until solid.
- Serve: Once frozen, pop the yogurt bites out of the molds and serve them as a refreshing treat for your dog on warm days.
- Storage: Store any remaining frozen bites in an airtight container or zip-lock bag in the freezer for up to 2 weeks to maintain freshness.
Notes
- Use plain, unsweetened yogurt to avoid harmful added sugars or artificial sweeteners such as xylitol that are toxic to dogs.
- Always supervise your dog when giving frozen treats to prevent choking hazards.
- Adjust portion size according to your dog’s weight and dietary needs.
- Make sure the peanut butter is unsalted and contains no xylitol or added sugar for safety.
- Frozen bites can be given as a cool snack or to help soothe teething puppies.
