Ingredients
Scale
Steak Bites
- 2 pounds sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
Optional Garnish
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (for thickening)
- 1 tablespoon cold water (for thickening)
Instructions
- Sear the Steak Bites (Optional): Heat a skillet over high heat and quickly sear the sirloin pieces on all sides until browned. This seals in the juices and creates a flavorful crust.
- Transfer to Crockpot: Place the seared or raw steak bites into the crockpot, spreading them out evenly.
- Add Sauce Ingredients: Pour melted butter, minced garlic, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce into the crockpot. Sprinkle salt, black pepper, onion powder, and paprika over the meat. Stir gently to ensure all pieces are well coated with the seasoning mixture.
- Slow Cook: Cover the crockpot and cook on LOW for 5 to 6 hours or on HIGH for 3 hours until the steak bites are tender and cooked through.
- Thicken Sauce (Optional): To thicken the cooking liquid, mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 1 tablespoon cold water until smooth and stir this slurry into the crockpot. Cook on HIGH for an additional 15 minutes until the sauce has thickened to your liking.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the steak bites and serve warm alongside your favorite sides such as mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
Notes
- Searing the steak bites before slow cooking is optional but enhances flavor and texture.
- You can skip the cornstarch thickening step if you prefer a thinner sauce.
- Adjust the seasoning amounts to taste, especially if you prefer less salt or spice.
- Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- This recipe works well with other cuts of beef like ribeye or flank steak if cut into bite-sized pieces.
