Description

This Espresso Martini is a sophisticated and delicious cocktail blending the rich flavors of espresso, coffee liqueur, vodka, and a hint of hazelnut liqueur. Perfect for coffee lovers looking for a smooth, frothy drink with an elegant presentation, it’s quick to prepare and ideal for an after-dinner treat or a classy get-together.

Ingredients

Scale

Liquids and Spirits

  • 1 ½ ounces good quality vodka (like Ketel One)
  • 1 ½ ounces coffee liqueur (like Mr Black)
  • 1 ½ ounces espresso (cooled)
  • ½ ounce hazelnut liqueur (like Frangelico) or simple syrup

Other

  • 2 or 3 large ice cubes
  • Coffee beans (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Add Ice: Place 3 large ice cubes into a large metal cocktail shaker to chill and dilute the ingredients slightly.
  2. Add Ingredients: Pour in the vodka, coffee liqueur, cooled espresso, and hazelnut liqueur (or simple syrup) into the shaker over the ice.
  3. Shake Vigorously: Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 30 seconds to combine the ingredients and create a frothy texture.
  4. Strain: Strain the mixture into a chilled martini or coupe glass, ensuring a smooth pour without ice.
  5. Rest: Let the drink rest for about 30 seconds to allow a creamy foam layer to form on top, enhancing both texture and presentation.
  6. Garnish: Add coffee beans on top for an aromatic and elegant garnish before serving.

Notes

  • Use freshly brewed espresso and allow it to cool before mixing to prevent watering down the cocktail.
  • If hazelnut liqueur is not available, simple syrup can be used as a substitute for slight sweetness.
  • Chilling the glass beforehand enhances the drinking experience by keeping the cocktail cold longer.
  • Shake vigorously to develop the signature creamy foam on top of the martini.
  • The coffee beans garnish adds a classic touch but is optional.
