Description

Enjoy a refreshing homemade Tiger Milk Tea featuring chewy tapioca pearls soaked in rich brown sugar syrup, combined with creamy milk for a delightful twist on a popular classic drink. Perfect for a sweet and satisfying treat served hot or chilled.

Ingredients

Scale

Tapioca Pearls

  • ½ cup tapioca pearls (cooked)
  • Water (enough to fill half your pot for boiling pearls)

Syrup

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons water

Milk Tea

  • 3 cups milk (whole milk or non-dairy alternative)
  • Ice cubes (optional, for chilling)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Tapioca Pearls: Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil and add the tapioca pearls. Cook them according to package instructions, usually between 10 to 15 minutes, until the pearls become translucent and chewy. Drain the pearls and rinse them with cold water to halt the cooking process and prevent sticking.
  2. Make the Brown Sugar Syrup: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar with 2-3 tablespoons of water. Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens into a rich caramel-colored syrup, taking approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from heat once ready.
  3. Assemble the Tiger Milk Tea: Place the cooked tapioca pearls into serving glasses. Pour in the milk of your choice and stir gently to incorporate the syrup-coated pearls evenly. Add ice cubes if you prefer your drink chilled for a refreshing twist.

Notes

  • Use whole milk or your favorite plant-based milk like almond or oat milk for different flavor variations.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar syrup to taste.
  • Make sure to rinse tapioca pearls thoroughly after cooking to avoid them sticking together.
  • The drink can be served warm by skipping the ice cubes or chilled by adding ice.
  • For best texture, consume the drink shortly after assembling as tapioca pearls can harden over time.
