Description

These Mustard Hasselback Kielbasa Bites are smoky, tangy, and perfect for game day or any party. Sliced and coated in a flavorful mustard-honey glaze, then baked until caramelized and crispy on the edges, they are an irresistible appetizer that’s easy to prepare and sure to please any crowd.

Ingredients

Scale

Kielbasa

  • 2 pounds kielbasa sausage

Mustard Glaze

  • 1/2 cup whole grain mustard
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 400°F (205°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Slice Kielbasa: On a cutting board, slice the kielbasa crosswise at 1/2-inch intervals, cutting about three-quarters of the way through each piece so the slices remain connected, creating a hasselback effect.
  3. Make Mustard Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the whole grain mustard, Dijon mustard, honey, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Coat Kielbasa: Arrange the sliced kielbasa on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon the mustard glaze generously over the top, making sure some of it drips into the cuts to flavor the sausage inside.
  5. Bake: Place the kielbasa bites in the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, basting once halfway through the cooking time with the remaining glaze to keep them moist and flavorful. Bake until the kielbasa is heated through, caramelized on top, and slightly crispy around the edges.
  6. Serve: Remove from the oven and if desired, garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Before serving, fully slice the kielbasa into bite-sized pieces and serve warm, ideally with toothpicks for easy snacking.

Notes

  • For extra smoky flavor, use smoked kielbasa and finish the bites under the broiler for 2–3 minutes at the end of baking.
  • These bites can be prepared ahead of time and reheated before serving.
  • Serve with toothpicks for convenient game day snacking.
