Scale
Slider Components
- 12 Slider rolls
- 2 tablespoon Mayonnaise
- 6 slices Provolone cheese
Steak and Seasonings
- 1 pound Thinly sliced steak
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
Vegetables
- 1 Green pepper, diced
- 1 Onion, diced (for sautéing)
- 1 tablespoon Onion, finely diced (for butter mixture)
Other
- 3 tablespoon Butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the assembled sliders.
- Prepare slider rolls: Separate the tops and bottoms of the slider rolls. Arrange the bottoms in an 11″ x 7″ baking dish or on a baking sheet. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on both the tops and bottoms of the rolls for added flavor and moisture.
- Cook the steak: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the thinly sliced steak. Season the meat with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder while cooking. Once cooked through, drain off any excess liquid and set the steak aside.
- Sauté peppers and onions: In the same or a clean skillet, sauté the diced green pepper and diced onion until tender. Drain off any excess liquid and set aside.
- Assemble the sliders: Evenly spread the cooked steak over the bottoms of the rolls in the baking dish. Next, distribute the sautéed peppers and onions evenly on top of the steak layer.
- Add cheese: Place a layer of provolone cheese slices over the peppers and onions, covering all sliders.
- Top with roll tops: Place the tops of the slider rolls on top of the cheese to complete the sandwich assembly.
- Prepare butter mixture: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with the finely diced raw onion. Brush this mixture generously over the tops of the slider rolls to add flavor and help achieve a golden finish.
- Bake covered: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, allowing the cheese to begin melting and the flavors to meld.
- Bake uncovered: Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese is fully melted and the tops are lightly browned.
- Serve: Remove from oven, cut the sliders apart, and serve warm.
Notes
- You can substitute the provolone cheese with American or mozzarella cheese according to preference.
- For a spicier variation, add sliced jalapeños or a spicy mustard spread to the rolls before assembling.
- Make sure to drain excess liquids from cooked steak and vegetables to prevent soggy sliders.
- These sliders can be prepared ahead of time up to assembly; keep covered and refrigerated before baking.
- Using thinly sliced ribeye steak yields the most authentic Philly cheesesteak flavor and tenderness.
