Description

These Puff Pastry Brie Bites are an elegant and easy appetizer featuring flaky puff pastry cups filled with creamy Brie, topped with sweet jam and crunchy pecans, then baked to golden perfection. Garnished with fresh thyme, these bite-sized treats are perfect for entertaining or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Pastry

  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed (17.3 oz package)

Filling

  • 8 oz Brie cheese
  • ½ cup jam (flavor of your choice, such as apricot or raspberry)
  • â…“ cup chopped pecans
  • Fresh thyme leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Puff Pastry Cups: Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheets and gently roll with a rolling pin to blend in the creases. Cut each sheet into 16 equal squares by cutting 4 strips horizontally and 4 strips vertically for a total of 32 squares. Press each square firmly into a well-oiled muffin tin cavity, shaping them to form small cups.
  2. Fill the Cups: Slice the Brie into 32 one-inch pieces. Freezing the Brie for 15 minutes beforehand makes slicing easier. Place one slice into each puff pastry cup. Add 1 teaspoon of jam on top of the Brie in each cup, then sprinkle with the chopped pecans evenly.
  3. Bake the Bites: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the filled puff pastry cups for about 20 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed up and golden brown. Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh thyme leaves. Optional: add orange zest or a drizzle of honey or hot honey to enhance the flavors. Let them cool for several minutes before gently removing from the muffin tin and serving.

Notes

  • Freezing the Brie before slicing helps achieve clean, even pieces that are easier to handle.
  • You can experiment with different types of jam such as fig, raspberry, or apricot to suit your taste.
  • Adding a drizzle of hot honey provides a delightful sweet-spicy kick.
  • Ensure the muffin tin cavities are well greased to prevent sticking.
  • These bites are best enjoyed warm but can be served at room temperature.
